The Labor Room!! By Elder Sean Smith

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this

grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character,

hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy

Spirit, who has been given to us.

Romans 5:1-5, NKJV

Your walk in Christ is comprised of yet-to-be-filled expectations that leave you not only longing but also wanting. At some points you feel as though you are in a perpetual waiting cycle and seemingly in the equivalent of a spiritual labor room…waiting for the promises of God to be birthed into your life. While this process can at times seem tedious and painful, it must manifest at the appropriate time, place, and season or else it will be pre-mature. This is why you must wait patiently through the trials and tribulations, understanding that through it all your faith will be rewarded - My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4, NKJV). It is in this labor room that your faith in God is tested…where you must choose between what is seen and what is promised…where you must either choose to quit or continue to labor for the Lord. However, know that when you work for the Lord you do not labor in vain - Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand (James 5:7-8, NKJV). So, while no one enjoys, nor seeks out suffering, those who do endure in the name of the Lord shall also triumph and receive His glory. Today wait patiently in the labor room as God brings to full term what He has promised…then watch how your faith is rewarded as His glory manifests in your life - Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him (James 1:12, NIV).
